Change Modem IP address in bridged mode.

Hi,

I've recently set up our BT Business Modem (BT2700HGV) in bridged mode. I've set up our internal router as a PPPoE client and I'm able to connect through it. However, we have a second DSL line I plan to do some crude load-balancing on.  The modem for this, like the BT one, is a re-badged Thomson of some sort; and both of them use 192.168.1.254/24 as their default IP + Network.

So I visit Settings->Private Network to change the BT one to another network, but none of the changes I make will hold. I've tried the automatic options on 10.0.0.0/16 and 172.16.0.0/16, and I've tried manually configuring the settings, too, but as soon as I save, I get the green 'Configuration Successful' box;  but the settings seem resolutely stuck on the default.

I'm also trying to diable the DHCP server (as bridged mode requires), but if I uncheckl the box and save I get a red 'Errors' box with no actual error message in it.

Another thing I should note is that the DHCP Lease Time box defaults to 0 and I have to set this to something else to avoid getting an error about that, too.

Is there anything else I have to do first before I can modify these settings?

The BT 2700 is NOT a rebadged Thomson, it is a 2Wire device - 2Wire are now part of PACE.

As for the 192.168.1.254 address - that cannot be changed.   In brdge mode it is set and not configurable.

At the bottom of:  http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C_1_1 it states that te IP addess is SET and also that DHCP server is disabled.

Ah, I think I mistook the favicon for a Thomson one.

I saw that warning text, but assumed it was only referring to the default settings. If there's nothing that can be done, then I'll ahve to see if I can change the other one's address.

Thanks for clarifying.

Terry.
