Tweaking BT Versatility system

HeavenCore

Hello there,

BT installed a Versatility system into a business i consult a few months ago with the Broadband extension, they have all the Internet traffic going through the DMZ port on the versatility box. Now then, i need to know 2 things:
1. How can i confirm the box is set up to use a static WAN address? (we are going to be registering a .co.uk domain to it)
2. How can i open and forward ports 80 and 3389 from our WAN address to our Server (192.0.0.5)? basically allowing an internal server to be visible from the outside as a web server with RDP access for our developer. The documentation that came with the Versatility system is really kind of lame, and i don’t want to go breaking the system. Is there a BT service that will do this for us? if so, what are the costs etc? Any info would be very helpful.

Regards

Jordon.

1) on a pc / server behind it go to www.whatismyip.com  and it will show if it is the correct ip or not.

2) i dont have an answer for this. ive tried to configure port forwarding on a versatility a few times before and its difficult. best to phone the versatility tech desk so they can walk you through it and make sure it works

Hi

On the Versatility, connect to your Broiadband module (default local addr is 192.168.1.1), then click Advanced, then Diagnostics, Then Status.  This will show whether you have your static address is set properly.

With regard to the DMZ settings, is this still outstanding? If so, let me know and I'll prepare some instructions for you.

Hi Dave

I don't know if you can help

I have a problem with VOIP on my Versatility - 3 VOIP phones worked perfectly until I packed them away two years ago and now they won't find the Versatility. I have the programming manual & software for the VOIP phones and the Versatility but it doesn't help. The phones try to find the IP and fail but the broadband module software lists lots of IP addresses within the module but none are the address the phones are looking for. The module does, however, include the ID numbers of all three phones together with the extension numbers allocated to them. Nobody can (or will) tell me which IP address I need to change or even if it is the phone or the Versatility that requires the changes. I am absolutely desperate because I urgently need to get the extensions working again and BT say "we can't (won't ?) talk to you - you don't pay maintenance"

1. If the IP on whatismyip.com doesn't change for a week, you're definitely using a static IP. OI would call the BT support and verify that.

I've checked with that website and obtained my IP but it doesn't appear anywhere in the status listing for the broadband module (which, incidentally, I also use as the router to access the internet and it works perfectly. Which of the IP addresses do I change in this list or do I change it on the phone ?
