Exchange 2003 database corruption

vivisector

Hi All,

I have had a huge database error recently. The database (.edb) was dismounted and it was suffering from "dirty shutdown"

I was able to fix it using "eseutil /p"  but i read that after a faliure like that it is highly recommended to create a totally clean database on a new harddisk and import the mail back to the mailboxes after.

My question is:

how can i do that? what would be the steps for it, and how is this effecting the outlook users?

Thanks.

Restarting your server might fix your immediate problem, but make sure to perform basic troubleshooting methods such as checking the event log files to determine the root cause of the problem that you are experiencing.

Step 1: Have a backup of the EDB and STM files.
Step 2: Disk space requirement for repair.
Step 3: Repair the Edb file.
Step 4: Defragment the EDB file.
Step 5: Clear Transaction Log.
Step 6: Run Integrity Check and remount.

Hope This Works,
Peter
