I’ve been using an existing landline for 20 years. My landline number was changed few months ago, I told BT about the amendment, they said it took a few days for things my existing landline that I’ve been using for years to replace the new number. I didn’t want to accept as it is too much time to lose out on however BT said they can divert calls to my existing landline I’ve been using for 20 years to my new number so in essence people can still contact me on my old landline number. Things were working fine for 5-6 weeks but yesterday I wasn’t able to receive calls on my old number. There would be a ring tone from the person making the call but the handset wouldn’t ring. The new number was and is still working fine. I’ve called an engineer to have a look at it but was wondering why this happened.
