Do 3rd party solutions work with BT BBV?

[ Edited ]

As per my other posts I am having difficulty getting anything other than BT's softphone (Office Communicator) working with my BT BBV.

I have tried 3rd party softphones, my router's integral VOIP feature and standalone VOIP handsets. In each and every case calls can establish, but cut off after 30-120seconds. Conversley all these methods work 100% fine when using another VOIP provider.

My conclusion from this is that BT BBV is designed NOT to work with anything other than BT Office Communicator and presumably POTS on BT Business Hub and BT Falcon handsets.

To support this theory can anyone confirm whether they have any third party setup accessing BT BBV working.

To BT - I realise that you do not support non-BT equipment/software, but this is a peer to peer forum and I am not asking you for help. If BT do wish to respond, it would be helpful if they would state whether they specifically prevent third party solutions connecting to their servers.

Hi Mdowers

Yes 3rd party equipment does work but as you already stated we dont support so i can't realy advise.

For the equipment you are using it sounds like a port issue, have you tried opening the bbv ports?

32000 to 36000 & 2727 & 5060 & 49152 to 49193

The main port we use is 5060 and all ports are udp.

Would these all have the SIP-based Internet Telephony Application Type?

Hi TomKelly

Our Platforms support and uses SIP but ports have nothing to do with SIP as far as im aware, it will be the Hardware that you are using that you would need to check to see if it supports SIP.

Re: Do 3rd party solutions work with BT BBV?

I'm here to confirm that I believe that 3rd-party handsets will not work with BT BBV.

I have forwarded all ports need.

Still manages to cut out after 40-60seconds.

Now losing business due to it.
