5 Static IPs and a Time Capsule

Hi All,

I was nicely using my Time Capsule on my signal static IP address.  I have since upgraded to 5 statics.

I have a couple of issues and was wondering if anyone has had any sucess?  The BT support team have been unable to help me on this on.

1.  When I check my external IP - I am getting a dyanmic peer address.

2.  I would the normal house browsing to appear as a static IP - I have some VPNs to configure that use my IP

3.  Ideally I would like to use the Time Capsule to control the 5Ips.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

Answers to your points below....

1.  When I check my external IP - I am getting a dyanmic peer address.

That is correct by design - your IP address options are a single public address applied to the router, or 5/13 public address applied to devices behind the router.

2.  I would the normal house browsing to appear as a static IP - I have some VPNs to configure that use my IP

If you apply one of your public IP addresses then the router will not apply NAT to it and the public IP will be visible to any sites you visit. Devices that don't have static IP's will continue to use NAT and the router's (dynamic) address will be used.

3.  Ideally I would like to use the Time Capsule to control the 5Ips.

Your milage will vary on this as I don't know if/how the Time Capsule deals with dual IP ranges for devices on the LAN.

Hope this helps,

Adrian
