I had my office broadband upgraded from ADSL Max to ADSL2 on the 12th November and was quoted a speed of 2.5Mbps.
On the 12th November everything seemed to go smoothly and ADSL2 was provided.
I don't know if it was initially or shortly after I noticed that the Target SNR seemed to be set at 15db, which I assumed was something to do with the initial 10 day stabilisation period. With this target SNR I was getting about a 1.5Mbps speed with 1971 sync rate.
I wait 10 days and nothing changed, so I phoned faults and asked them to drop the target SNR to 6db the normal initial rate which I know from my DSL Max time that my line will support.
1 maybe 2 days later I was contacted and asked if the connect speed was better, I said that nothing had changed ( I had noticed an attempted change to the line but the target SNR remained at 15db ), so they sent the problem back to wholesale. 1 maybe 2 days later I had another phone call asking if the problem was fixed. I told them that nothing had changed! So I think they sent it to wholesale again.
1 maybe 2 days later someone phoned back and I told them that I'd still get the same problem, he said he'd phone back, which he did do the next day. He indicated that there was probably a fault with my equipment as the target SNR had been set to 6db ( It hadn't ) and it had gone back up to 15db due to the equipment, so I connected the BT router ( which doesn't support any VPN tunnels and is making work a pain. )
After the weekend, I was contacted and I said that nothing had changed, so an engineer was arrange to test my line.
The engineer came and tested the line, everything was fine, he only got a sync. speed of about 1152kbps and he suggested that the service was being capped in some way.
At about 6 o'clock that night ( 1st December ) the router reconnected and now it is reporting that the rate is capped at 1152kbps. ( N.B. SNR is 19.0 and the Max. Rate is 2869 ) I've been waiting for the cap to be removed but this hasn't happened!
Can someone please remove the capped rate from my line?
BTW when the engineer was here, he said that when checking my details he could see that my line was only about 340m of good quality copper from the FTTC enabled cabinet and asked why I didn't have Fibre broadband? ( That is a good question, which I will answer if anyone wants to know! )
