We have two Business grade ADSL services @ my company (and both on Business grade telephone lines), a BT ADSL 2+ and a Demon ADSL Max Premium. The download speeds are not great due distance from exchange and quality of local infrastructure but we do see about 2.6 Mbps download speed at the modem (BT a bit higher). However in the late afternoon we see a large drop in performance on the BT service and a lesser drop in performance on the Demon service. Yesterday at 4 pm we were getting about 5 Kbytes per second down load speed on the BT ADSL and 120 Kbytes per second on the Demon service.
Do we have a problem with our BT ADSL2+ or don't BT care about small businesses, we are paying top dollar for our service and much more than a residential customer, so why does the performace degrade so much?
So, does no one else have problems with the down load speed of their BT ADSL2+ service dropping off serveraly in the afternoon? 4 pm Tuesday last we were only seeing 5kbytes/second whilst the ADSL modem was showing a line speed of 2.7 Mbps (about 220kbytes per second when overheads are taken into account).
Hi,
The fact that you're getting slow speeds on both connections immediately cancels out your broadband package with BT as a cause.
I've done some checking on Demon and I'm not sure if they're an LLU provider, which would explain the slightly higher speed.
In any case I would advise contacting the Helpdesk. Any slow speed issues should be raised with them.
