Assigning multiple static ip addresses to one nic

I have BT infinity and 5 static ip addresses with the 2701 bt router.

Can I assign multiple static ip addresses to one nic card? If so, how? If not, want router can?

Cheers.

No it's not possible to assign multiple IP's to a single NIC. The 2701 router only populates the device list with 1 IP per 1 MAC ID, so any port forwarding you configure will only ever work for the IP the routing table displays at the time.

Thanks a-hill - I thought this was the case.

Is this common with routers? I don't want to upgrade router and find it behaves the sames way - is there a specific feature I should be looking for?

I'm currenlty looking at the 'DrayTek Vigor 2750n', any idea if this will do the job?

Thank you.

I'd say this router is behaving in it's own unique way and most routers would allow multiple IP's to one NIC, the only thing they may not do is allow multiple subnets to be configured on it. For example the Netgear DG834G will only allow a private range OR a public no-NAT range, not both. The BT Voyager series however will allow 2 subnets and also allow any number of IP's to be assigned to a single NIC as port mapping is done per IP and not per MAC ID.

Unfortunately I've never had a chance to run this setup on a Vigor so can't say for definite if it will work or not

We have the Draytek Vigor 2750n working with multiple Static IP routing in our scenario in this thread: Multiple Statics with Cisco PIX

Screens of our 2750n set-up are included.
