BT Business mobile very high bill due to data usage

Hi all. I recently received a bill for over £700.00 for a month. Usually my bill is between £25 - £30.

After telephoning BT I was told this was due to the data charges. Basically I get 2gb of data with my package and i went over by about 1gb. I have checked on their website and it does state that the charges for going over on data is £0.50 per mb. Stupidly when I read that I don't actually take into account that with vat that equates to £600.00 per 1gb of data.

Had i of called them before I reached the 2gb limit I could of purchased an extra 1gb of data for £7.50 plus vat.

I am a small business and really can't afford to pay such a bill but do not know what to do.

When I called BT they said it would be investigated and somebody would be in touch with me within 10 days. More than 10 days has passed and I have heard nothing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Mc,

If it helps, your not on your own. I see like you and i there are others in the same situation.

A colleague of mine was recently hit with an £900.00 charge for 3gb worth of extra data she didn't use. Yet when you try to contact BT an explain to a different person for the 10th time and they give you yet another case number because the person before them didn't entire it correctly, yet that department dont deal with it; to be told due to data protection they aren't allowed to tell me what sites I've been on sites!! Yet another rep tells me they can but the charge must be a software update but still will not disclose what.

Probably like yourself we have emailed, rang and now sent a letter off to them signed for. Unfortunately because we are not a small company we aren't able to go through the Citizens advise or the ombudsmen, but you may be able to?
