BT News Server Connection Failure

I'm trying to set up my PC to access News Groups on the BT server (btopenworld). However whether I put in the username & password details or not I still get a connection failure as follows:

1) with username & password:

Connection Failed: news.btopenworld.com Server Index:2 481 Access Denied via @btinternet.com auth server

2) Without username & password:

Connection Failed: news.btopenworld.com Server Index:2 480 authentication required

Can anyone assist in helping me setup this connection?

Hi pjcairns,

I have checked the news groups were for residential customers but some business accounts were able to access them.  When I was speaking to my colleague from the residential forum he has advised that as of December 2014 they were phasing the newsgroups out.

If you go to the residentilal forum they will be able to advise further.
