BT domain help

lawrie

I would like to reply to the thread I started but cannot find out how to do that.

The client should not have lost their details, however I defy the moderator to find any registrar who has such involved contact methods.  All I know have a telephone number.

Anyway, I did point out that the contact method detailed on the forum page asks for details the client has lost therefore the 'help' offered by the moderator is useless.

I cannot see any problem in emailing login details to the registered email address or even giving an email support contact!!

If one can be provided, then thanks.

If not I just breathe a sigh of relief that my other clients use firms where domain registry is their core business and have an adequate support structure when problems occur.

Hi,

Then do as many of our customers already do and fake the details you don't know.

As long as your contact email address is working and you have included the domain (and any other information you do have) then they should be able to find the account.  Then they can try and get security confirmed if needed.

Also the DNS guys are an email team.  You can phone the main Helpdesk on 0845 600 7020 if you like, but I don't think they take incoming calls (the DNS team that is).  Could be wrong though.

Hi,

Thanks for that.  All I need is an email address for the dns team.

Forgive me for lacking confidence but what I did not mention is that my client did get to talk with someone at BT last week and asked for cpanel login details so the domain could be pointed at my nameservers.  (We have not been able to replicate that contact 🙂

However the support guy, rather than giving login details asked for my server ip address so the A record could be changed.  That was probably a good solution. He got the info 7 days ago and the domain is still resolving to BT!!

All attempts for more contact have raised the frustration level where I have just advised the client to buy the .com domain from 1&1 and I will sort mail and transition.

... I understand the dns team will not take calls but surely and email address is possible?

Thanks

Lawrie

Ah, just understood the 'fake details' advice.  Will go with that unless there is an email address?

I just checked there.  Afraid not.
