BT2700HGV, MS W2k8R2 & MS Lync Server (MS office communicator)

Installing a Windows 2008r2 Enterprise server primarily for webhosting (IIS7) & email (Exchange) and also have the option of installing MS Lync server from the MS Action Pack Subscription (MAPS) so I'm trying to find out if the BT hub BT2700HGV will work with MS Lync server.

Can the std phone line that the ADSL comes in on plug into the hub and then hook into the Lync server somehow? If so any links to documentation and will Caller ID still work or do we need to cancel that service?

We also have bundled in our broadband package a VOIP line IIRC so wondered if that will also work with MS Lync server?

From what I've read so far, it seems MS Lync works with ISDN type lines which are often used with the modern PBX's businesses use but cant find anything to say it will work with a Std BT line.

Long term aim is to hook some our bespoke software for companies into MS Lync server so any pointers to technical docs will be helpful although I have all the MS API info integrating MS Lync into our apps. Its the other side of the equation we are struggling on.

Thanks

Richard

HI Richard

Sorry can't advise with the STD line, as for the Voip line we have not tested your mentioned setup and the support we offer will be limited.

If you are setting up a server in front on the 2700 then  you will need to configure the voip first to the 2700 then add the server, you will need to open port 5060 udp to allow the traffic through, this is not guaranteed to work.
