Bt servers are in America with InternetNamesForBusiness

I have been with you 2 years. Since last October when I was advised of my new IPaddress (not sure why this was changed my business has gone down.

I have had my website for over 12 years. from June 24th 1999 As I had been told a uk business should be based on a uk server.

When joined I asked the salesman about the bt servers I was told they were in the uk so I transfered my uk based web site from a German server (where 85% of my traffic came from the UK)

When I view my stats from my bt account Manage Web hosting

Top 30 of 88 Total Countries These are the top 10 shown for my website as of 24th October 2011

2 75234 20.19% 71205 20.47% 2109982 23.23% Network

3 54399 14.60% 50364 14.48% 1345903 14.82% Unresolved/Unknown

6 3636 0.98% 2566 0.74% 89437 0.98% Russian Federation

7 1878 0.50% 1870 0.54% 74555 0.82% Non-Profit Organization

8 1823 0.49% 1795 0.52% 24864 0.27% Australia

9 1595 0.43% 1510 0.43% 45795 0.50% Netherlands

10 1348 0.36% 1324 0.38% 46594 0.51% Germany

On looking into this on a number of web sites they say my Hosting Company: InternetNamesForBusiness.com Internetnamesforbusiness.com Florida United States

In the past I was with 1&1 they said server was in uk but no I ended up in Germany with bad support

Fasthosts, they are also in the US for help they have to go throuugh someone else

Also many advertising hosting uk have reseller accounts with srvers hosted in US thats why it takes so long to get any help, they have to go through someone else.

I thought I would be safe with BT, although good support.

I woud have thought BT would have UK servers of their own.

Can anyone help please!

It's not uncommon for Service Providers such as ourselves, to use other companies for domain registration.  We use Register as a domain registrar, for example.  Others may use registrars such as Tucows.
