Can I get my website designed elsewhere and still use eshop at the backend?

Hi - I am sure the answer is out there somewhere - I use a eshop template for my site and now want to get my site redesigned by another company and not BT and was wondering whether it is possible to get my site designed and then somehow upload so that Eshop is the backend? Anyone else done this?

Thanks

There is work in progress at the moment for making this possible.  There is no fixed release date at present but it may be before the end of the month. 🙂

The only issue i can see is that BT provide you with full training, help with the payment solution and full training to manage the site for you. The other solution may be suitable but you might be left with a good looking site that you don't have the full knowledge to get the best from the features on the eshop package.
90% of all businesses start their buying decisions online.
25% of all UK retail purchasing will be online by 2009

Better get me a website then....

Full training????   When???   I must have missed that in my eShop package.  I had no training, no help, fortunately, have done some basic Dreamweaver stuff so was able to get an eShop together in a week, but certainly no thanks to any training from BT.

It was at this point i realised why they kept pushing their Webconsult services at me - eShop or rather ePages is not quite that simple and straighforward

The main issue I see is hooking into the eShop package in some way and I am not convinced epages is about to open up their platform for all and sundry.  As i understand it the whole eShop package is just a Enterprise ePages package with a Bt logo which BT pay money for , they then cut it up into little pieces and sell it to their customer, as the even the hosting is done my ePages, not BT.  Just like the other BT hosted packages which are actually hosted in the US by another company! Bt just do the selling and billing and take a slice of profit.

You should go read the ePages website epages.com- makes interesting reading!

Hi

Thanks for that! I did know that epages was not BT as I sometimes submit questions to the developer forum as its quicker than asking BT. I dont want to use BT to design my site as they charge a lot just to design my site as effectively I have the back end etc all set up.

Its a shame thats its so difficult to use your own design with eshop as it would make life so much easier!

If you have the back end sorted, just persevere with the design- or scale back on the fancy stuff and get the first version up and running - thats more or less what i ended up having to do whilst i learn to use ePages more effectively, particularly using my own HTML etc....it's a fairly clean site, and works (fingers crossed)...take a look  www.aregato.com...
