Oh My God. I have BT basic business web pack. When I signed up for it I was told even I would be able to design a website easily. Yer, right!!! I cannot get my head around anything. Okay, so I get to the easywizard thing and then choose my template. Well of course I don't want ANY of the stuff on it... the pictures, the foreign mumbo jumbo language etc. I want to choose my own colour background, my own text, my own photos etc etc. but how on earth do you delete the stuff thats already on the template and replace it with your own??? All I do want on the home page being offered are the links at the side. Hey I can do something! I'm not too bad at creating new buttons.....about us, flight info etc. But as for the rest of it..... Also, my website is for a holiday rental company I have formed letting property abroad. Are you sure this basic pack is okay because I need loads of stuff......current weather conditions.. search engine etc.  Please, please, please help me...........................

Hi Mandyj46,

Sorry to hear you are having some problems setting up your website. Which EasySiteWizard are you using?

Hi Mandy,

Thanks for posting.

Within EasySiteWizard you can add in your own photos or photos from the gallery.  You can also delete some of the photos on the templates.  I suggest playing around with a few of your favourite templates just to see what you can delete and what you cant.  A general rule is that you can delete anything (including text/photos/other boxes) apart from the actual template itself.

The best way to delete a photo or text box is to double click on it, this will then make the box editable so you can delete text within the box or you can delete the box completely by clicking on the red "X" that will appear on the bottom right of the box intself.

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask any other questions and someone will get back to you,

Thanks,

Lisa

Hi Mandy,

You can also get assistance in having your site built for you via the following link. There is a fee for this service.

Hope this helps

Thankyou for your suggestions. I have managed to get on and do the text and uploading images okay. I am trying to build a holiday property rental site which BT advisor said would be easy for a total novice. (Yer right!)

I want to brighten my website up and have different blocks of coloured background. (At the moment it's all pale blue 😞 Also, I have no lines to block off sections so it's just like one page if you see what I mean and things aren't sectioned off which makes it look quite messy. Any ideas.

Oh and yes, if BT hadn't assured me how EASY it would be to build a really professional looking holiday rental site (which I think is completely INCORRECT info. in my case....and I spoke to them on the phone so it's not like they couldn't tell how computer thick I am!!) I wouldn't be going through this nightmare, so asking me to now pay to help get my site constructed is quite naughty! How much does this cost by the way? Or are we talking a phone call to a 50p a minute phone number???

Hi Mandy,

Well you can get a free 15 minute consultation (you can apply online using the link posted above) and then the expert designers will be able to provide you with a quote on what they could do for, and a specific price on what you request.  These are some examples of the lower cost web design service:-

You will be pleased to know that we are going to be improving many of the features on the EasySiteWizard tool in the next 3 months.  The first of these improvements should be here before Xmas, where you will be able to enter text boxes, insert links more easily, delete boxes more easily, have an increased range of font sizes etc.  I would suggest for the time being to try and find a template that looks similar to what your finished article would like to look like, there are templates available which have sections of colour and blocks.  I guess you could then insert your own pictures of properties you are hoping to rent out etc.

Hope this helps and I will keep you posted on the improvements we are making once they go live - keep checking back here as it will be a sticky topic at the top of the forum.

Thanks,

Lisa

Although I have a little idea about design packages I have used a designer I found on eBay and he was able to go into the BT Shop and alter the front end giving me a really good, professional looking website at a fraction of the cost of buying a bespoke one.  The desinger is Martin Hoy at MH Design & Media and if you want to see what he has done with the BT tamplate check out my website www.noahsarkgifts.co.uk
