Does Fibre Broadband VDSL2 have an IP Profile like ADSL and ADSL2?

I'm just wondering if the BT Fibre Broadband VDSL2 has an IP Profile like ADSL and ADSL2?

If this is the case, is it also true at the moment that all 3rd party ISPs which are offering Fibre broadband will be using the BT system and will also be affected by the IP Profile?

Yes, BT fibre operates using the IP Profile system. I couldn't tell you for sure if other CP's resell from BT Wholesale. The situation could be similar to now, where certain CP's rent bandwidth from BT Wholesale, while others (SMPF or MPF) operate their own equipment and do not use IP Profiles.

Hi,

The FTTc and FTTp services are built and managed by Openreach on behalf of all CP's (including BT Retail)  The service the CP's buy from Openreach is called GEA (Generic Ethernet Access)

So in effect it's up to the CP's to add additional services and value over and above the basic connectivity, as that's common to all of them.

I hope that helps.  There is also more info on the Openreach website.  http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/
