Domain Prefix Help

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with my issue please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am on BT Professional Hoting and say my domain name is www.mydomain.com - what I would like to do is section off an area for a basic Magento installation. What I was hoping for was www.shop.mydomain.com is this possible? If so how do I create a prefix like that.

In the BT Domains Centre I can see..

"Sub Domain Management
Create new addresses on my domain (i.e. www.sales.activecontent.xxx) and forward it to ..."

Is this the area I would need? If so how does this area work?
