Eshop and the McAfee Site Advisor help pls

Hi all

I tried to verify myself as the owner of the our website but have received the following mesage back -

It appears that the Web site XXXX is returning an HTTP 2xx or 3xx status response code in the header of 404 pages.

We cannot verify a Web site that is configured this way because it allows anyone to verify themselves as the owner of your site. Please update your Web site server configuration to return 404 status codes in the headers for pages that do not exist. Once your site is configured this way then you can return and request a file name verification.

Could some one explain what its on about as I have no idea. Also how do I correct this.

Do McAfee allow you to verify owenership of the site using a Metatag instead (as Google, etc do)?

If so, you can do this by going into Settings > General Settings > Advanced Setttings > HTML Head area and pasting the Meta tag provided into there.

Hi Predator,

Was just wondering if you got anywhere with this ?

I just checked my site and McAfee have given a yellow, use with caution rating even though absolutely nothing has changed (as far as I am aware).

I'm wondering if this is related to the recent server issues over the weekend perhaps ?
