Help needed with making my site work

Sandwell

Hello and apologies if this has been answered already. Had a look a can't find anything, and getting quite fustrated now.

Anyway i have a website already created that is sitting with a free host. I have designed this for the office i work in and have only recently have started using the bt website centre. My office use the Internet Business Pack and i am under the impression that this would need to upgraded to use PHPMyAdmin?

The website i have created uses wordpress and i wanted to use that on the BT hosting. However if this is not possible on the package i use, i tried to see if i could point the domain name my current webhost. However i get this error: *More then 2 records have the key set to www for this name, to avoid problems please amend the records. No changes have been saved. At the bottom of the domain manager page it says 'As you have hosting, some records have been protected against modification.'

My questions: Can i create a database on the IBP package via PHPMyAdmin and if not how can i point the domain name to the current host without getting the above error?

Hope i've explained everything if not let me know, 🙂

Hi Sandwell,

I am sorry to say that PHPMyAdmin is not available with our standard webhosting package, you would need to upgrade to out advance hosting pack.  If you are having problem changing the A records for your domain name, to point the website to another hosting company, I would recommend going to www.dnsforms.co.uk and by clicking the option for DNS A record repoint, fill the details in and our DNS team will make the change for you.

Would suggest site migration to X10Hosting,

they will allow a Top Level Domain Name to used in conjunction with a free hosting account.

Availabe server features are quite respectable however there are limits to SQL database size and server resource useage limits are a little low for some sites needs but as you said it was developed on a free host there should be no problems,

I just purchased a domain name to see what DNS control BT allowed.

Am I correct in thinking that, even when hosting is not involved, BT locks out full zone editing saying there is? So far it appears to be the case and I'm somewhat surprised! Is the only way to change the IP of a host really to complete a form and request that someone from BT do it?
