Help with ADSL and ADSL2 setup

Hi, Im having loads of issues at the moment with our Business Broadband connection. It all goes back to March 26th 2012 when our local exchange has only just been updated to support ADSL2.

For the past 3 years we have been running a Cisco 1700 router perfect on our broadband and we have been getting a connection speed of about 3.5meg which is about right as we are miles away from the exchange. On the 26th we were upgraded by BT to the new platform but even after this change the max speed we can get is still only 3.5 meg. Anyway since this upgrade our speed is affected more a less everyday.

For the first 10 days we had some up's and downs as to be expected but last week which started on the Tuesday at about 9pm the line was connected but it was that slow it was taking just a basic Google page 45 minutes to load, I rebooted the router and it came back to life. Now ever since most of the time in the evening and overnight it keeps doing the same. The line is connected but the speed is that bad all I can do is restart the router to make it connect faster. BT have done test after test on the line and found no fault. I like the Cisco 1700 router and as we are not going to see any speed upgrade from the 3.5meg we currently have I might as well keep it.

My question is if anyone can help SHOULD the Cisco 1700 ADSL router continue to work if the line is now enabled for ADSL2? and also does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing the drops as its only at certain times.

I can get BT to site to check but if they find no fault I'm going to get charged so I'm trying to hold off on this.

Any help or advice would be great as I'm loosing hair by the day.

Thanks

Paul

It is okay to switch to ADSL2 if you're subscription gives you a connection of 12Mbps or more. Otherwise, stick with ADSL as it gives you up to 8Mbps of speed.

Thanks for your reply.

Im still having the issue of the broadband dropping everynight although it didnt last night but it happened about 6:30 this morning. A reboot of the router and its been fine all day.

Its becoming a problem now as i cant keep rebooting routers on a daily basis to keep the service running.

BT's tech support as a waste of space as well, i was suppose to have an engineer coming to site today but rather than tell me they couldnt make it they have kept me waiting all day and the next day they can get is Tuesday. I have no idea why i even have business broadband with this support i might as well get home broadband.

Paul
