Help with BT Versatility Courtesy service

I have recorded my own message for the day and night service, when the phone has rung for 15 seconds the automatic message still plays, not my own. How do I get it to use my recorded message instead?
Also, when I have set 'group divert' to voicemail, the phone still rings rather than being diverted - can you explain what I might be doing wrong?
