NOT a good start, cancel during cooling off period or hope for the best?

So, our contract was up on all our lines (all out isdn30e and analogue lines AND broadband)

I considered moving the lines, but decided to stick with BT and order BT infinity at the same time.

I made it clear i need a static IP address as we run a mail server and other services.

Today, i get my welcome email, and find that ive been assigned a dynamic IP address!!

So, i went online to change it, not overly worried about a small extra charge.

To find i cant change this as the order isnt live.

After calling support and waiting god knows how long i got through to be told i have to wait until we are live to order a static IP address.

This means no mail until the order is processed and then i need to set my A records etc afterwards!

Im assured the whole thing is a quick job, but..given that BT cocked this up im not convinced

So i have 2 options

1) use the cool off period to cancel ALL our company services right here and now, and move to another supplier.

2) Hope that it really does go smoothly changing to static ip within '10 mins' as support claim

Does anyone have experience of changing to static, with regards to time frames?

Any downtime at all gets me shot - email is so vital here

Thanks

Hi there Trevor,

Setting up an IP should be quick and easy.  Thats said It cannot be done through the online portal when your order has not been closed off on our side.

You can do this by contacting sales 0800800152 while we wait for the order to close off

Thanks
