.Net Versions and Rich Text Editor

Are we able to upgrade our .Net accounts to the new 3.5 Framework? The RTE I was planning to use I have just found out only runs on 3.5 (AjaxControlToolkit). As it is embedded and running I thought I would just ask quickly!
