Pointing a Domain Name to BT Hosting

Gazza58

Hello

I have recently updated a website for a college who has hosting via BT Connect and uses this DomainName. However he also has a Domain Name registered through another Company (but no hosting).

I would like to point the registered domain name (www.domainname.co.uk) to his BT Connect pages (http://home2.btconnect.com/username).

Can anyone provide me with details as to how this is possible

Many Thanks

Hi Gazza58,

What you can do is either a URL/FRAME forward for the registered domain name (www.domainname.co.uk) to point to the BT Connect pages (http://home2.btconnect.com/username).

There is no hosting with the domain Name, is this possible?

If it is then yes it would be the easiest Solution

Hi Gazza58 for a ULR/FRAME forwrad the domain in question does not need to have hosting as it it just a DNS change that is required through the domain host.

The Domain Name is registered through Vidahost, No Hosting was purchaesed with this; they have used BT Connect for the Web hosting. Therefore the address (www.domainname.co.uk) goes to a Dead page (not ideal)

I'm looking at the possibility of a 301 redirect so I can point the Domain to the BT Connect Address, which is all I really need to achieve.

Unfortunately the site is not mine, I'm just setting it up for someone who s not that well versed in web design.
