Problem with VAT number when registering with eShop

Hi,

 

We have received loads of reports from customers that our registration page is faulty. When we investigate, it appears to be the VAT field that is causing problems. Although it is not set as a required field, when it is used, the number has to be entered in a certain format. If the format is incorrect, it tells the customer that the VAT number is invalid, but not that the format is wrong. Therefore, after many attempts at entering their VAT number without success, they call us to report that they are unable to complete registration due to a fault.

 

Can the field be changed to allow various formats (i.e. GB 123456789, GB 123 4567 89, etc.)?  Or, as this is not a required field, can the customer be allowed to complete registration even if the format is not correct?

We have tried several different combinations of the VAT, but unfortunatly, we could not reproduce the error:

 

GB 123 4567 89

GB123456789

   GB123456789 

GB 123456789

GB 123 456789 

GB123 456789 

 

We would advise you to edit the texts of the Basket Settings in order to inform the users about the correct format (GB 123 456 789). For doing this, please, go to the top menu under "Settings >> Basket settings". Now, in the "Texts" tab, in "Text for the top section of the shopping basket", you can introduce this information.

Thanks for your reply.

 

Just to clarify, the problem occurs on the registration page, not in the shopping basket. After re-checking I can confirm that I am still able replicate the problem customers are reporting.

 

We have checked the back office, but are unable to find where text can be added to the registration page?
