Problems uploading website... help please...

Hi Folks

I'd appreciate some help if anyone could do so...

I'm trying to get my website live, I've built it in WYSIWYG and have used the 'publish' function to send it to the BT ftp.  When I log into my bt webpage manager and 'access FTP' the pages are listed in the /pubilc folder as I believe they should be...

When I type the address into my browser however, I'm still getting the BT page saying that this address is registered with BT, rather than seeing my website...

Am I doing something worng???

many thanks Smiley Very Happy

There are a few reasons this could be happening. Easiest to check for is to make sure you have an index.htm or similarly named file in your public folder. If your index file is named something else it may find the BT default page before your page. To get around this either rename your main page to something like index.htm or index.html or whatever coding language the site is in or, if your editor does not support this, rename the BT default page. You might also want to check the DNS for the domain as it may be pointing to a parking package rather than your hosting package. Without knowing your domain I can't say for sure what IP you would want to point to but you could probably check with support via phone to find out more about that.
