Setting up CCTV DVR for Lan/Remote access with BT 2701HGV-C fibre?

Hi,

I just had fibre installed today.

I can't figure out how to set up access to my CCTV DVR.  I have dynamic IP.

Trouble is I can't even see on the LAN now.

I have set the ip to 192.168.1.150 and 255.255.255.0

Can someone advise please.

What gateway address do you have set on your CCTV system? You need to make sure your gateway is set to the same IP as the router (192.168.1.254 by default). Regardless of the gateway though you should still have LAN access even if the gateway is blank or incorrect. If it's set up correctly and you're getting web access on your PC, but no local access on your DVR, you may need to double check the settings or speak to the DVR manufacturer. Once you get the sorted, you'll need to find out what ports are required for remote access.

I set it up with dyndns and I have it working now on Lan and remote (iphone).  The gateway was correct so not sure what the problem was.  I don't like the business hub control panel, I am used to Netgear.  The hub does not recognise devices as active and I can't seem to assign fixed IPs via MAC.  Considering the Vigor 2750N as a complete replacement.

Happy to hear you got it working 🙂 Yeah I can appreciate there are some limitations in the business hub regarding the amount of control you have over your network, but nothing too limiting to a point where it won't work. Just a note, you can use any router you want on your business broadband line, you aren't restricted to the BT router. The only thing affected with that is the support level you will receive from the technical helpdesk, other than that there are no restrictions.
