Transfer A record ONLY

I have completed the request form to transfer the A name for a domain

But I want to keep all email with BT

However the form has no free text entry for any human message to say what I need (that's dumb)

How do I ensure you don't mess this up?

...your user informataion page for A name transfer seems to think I want to move the entire domain elsewhere

I do NOT!!!

Why cant you just let customers manage their own advanced DNS?

You have a page for it -  but it blocks A name changes.

I was told by tech support I could do this - but now it's needed I can't do it

I don't have my customer's WM bill number

I have everything else - username, password, secure word, mothers maiden name, aunt's dog's name ...

now you want the bill number

any other host *I* can manage dns - but not BT

Hi Egg,

For changing your Zone Settings please see the following help and support file. Please note that settings associated with your primary domain name are disabled for security reasons. Please contact the helpdesk  and select 'Domans & Hosting' , then select 'DNS A-Records repoint'  and finally select 'email' to fill out a webform and have the domain name configured.

By filling out the DNS A-Records Repoint this will ONLY change your A record. You would need to fill out the 'DNS Mailbox redirect' to have the mailbox changed.

If you don't have your WM account number you can get this from the BT Business Billing team through the contact us section of the website and select 'Billing & Payments' and then 'Internet Billing and Payment'

I hope this helps

ok thanks that would have helped if I hadnt phoned BT already

but it took me an hour of calling to get through to someone who can help because there is no option on the telephone help system that is remotely related to what I needed

I did not know which phone number to enter as that is not relevant to this - there is no problem - I just need a technical support person

the only options are billing, problems or new orders

eventually I was able to get to someone who could verbally give me the WM number - so if he can give me that number over the phone then I should NOT need it to request dns change, if I have all the other passwords and maiden names
