Trying to get my email account to work on my Galaxy Ace 2 phone

I'm trying to get my emails downloaded to my new smart phone Galaxy Ace 2 Android, but hitting a problem. On the first screen of the phone to set up my email I put in my btclick email account and password. That takes me though to the second screen where I have to choose manual input to input "pop3.btclick.com" in the POP3 server value. Security type I leave as None which is port 110. That seems to pass muster and I go to the outgoing server settings. The SMTP server by default is smtp.btclick.com, though I think this is wrong. The Security type is None, which defaults the Port to 25. I have a tick box "Requires sign-in" which I've tried both ticked and non-ticked. The phone takes a time to check the outgoing server settings but comes back with an error "unable to connect server". Can anyone advise what I'm doing wrong?

Found the answer finally at this forum topic http://business.forums.bt.com/t5/Email/E-mail-on-Galaxy-TAB/m-p/19579 BT email does not have a solution, you have to approach it from another angle to bypass their shortcomings. (Will someone in BT wake up and listen to their consumers?)

Try using port 587 instead. I think that was the one I used setting up to an Android phone.

Hi,

The btclick.com server was retired a number of years ago and replaced with btconnect.com.  It was kept as an alias for a while, but I don't know if it still works.

If you haven't been migrated to Office 365 then you would need to use pop3.btconnect.com and mail.btconnect.com as your incoming and outgoing servers.

If you have (you would have received emails to warn you), then you should probably read the following:

I've tried mail.btconnect.com with Security types: None (Port 25) SSL (Port 465), TLS (Port 587) both with "Require sign-in" ticked and unticked. Still no luck.

I think btclick whilst retired is still working (if as an alias) because that's how our PC outlook is set up for incoming messages "pop3.btclick.com". However, as our provider is O2 at present I don't have a reference point for the respective BT outgoing server. I thought there might be a Samsung value similar to the O2 one, but that doesn't seem to be the case. We definitely have not moved to Office 365.

Any other suggestions? any will be gratefully received.

Some partial success. I put "pop3.btclick.com" on the incoming server and in the outgoing sever I used "smtp.outlook.com" with TSL Port 587 and unticked the "Require sign-in". This allowed the phone to load the email account in the phone and I can now receive incoming emails, but I cannot send outward emails.

If I tick the "Require sign-in" I then get the error  "Username or password incorrect. (535 5.7.3 Authenication unsuccessful).

I will try other outgoing server values, but if anyone has any bright suggestions I would be grateful for any short cut.
