Web Hosting & Multiple Domains...

HI,

I have just recently signed up for the Web Hosting package. I have already activated and name my free webspace with a primary domain. www.bmgsolutions.com This appears to be fine, I used the on-line web design tool just to add a simple test landing page to ensure all was well, it is. The free webspace is named http://home.btconnect.com/Home as can be seen above it working ok.

However I now have another domain name and I thought it would be a simple matter to create another directory onto my webspace and simply load another test landing html page on there just to ensure that the additional domain name was now pointing at that directory space. Therefore I created a new Directory and called BMG and uploaded another simple landing page to test.

I now thought that my second domain name would need forwarding onto http://home.btconnect.com/Home/BMG

but using the TEST LINK button produces a 404 error page.

What am I doing wrong?

I don't think that you are doing anything wrong at all I think that the second domain name you ordered is still waiting for the order to be fully completed.

I am a BT employee so I checked your account for the second domain, the registered date is 8th Feb (when I do a whois lookup) and I think it just isn't fully registered on our systems yet.

When you login to my office and go to web hosting and click manage web hosting and online storage, you are only given the first domain, your second domain is not yet listed and I believe that it will take another day or two before its in the system.

When it is complete you will have:

BT Web Hosting (myfirstdomain.co.uk)
Manage myfirstdomain.co.uk
Change FTP password for myfirstdomain.co.uk

BT Web Hosting (myseconddomain.co.uk)
Manage myseconddomain.co.uk
Change FTP password for myseconddomain.co.uk

Currently you only have:

BT Web Hosting (myfirstdomain.co.uk)
Manage myfirstdomain.co.uk
Change FTP password for myfirstdomain.co.uk

I am only estimating though as I don't have access to the order placed or when each step of the order took place but usually once a .co.uk is registered its about 5 working days before its on our systems.  Both of your domain orders were placed on the same date I think so if your second domain doesn't show up under 'manage web hosting and online storage' by Tuesday (as that's a week) then please contact the Technical Helpdesk and advise them that your domain isn't showing up here and they can escalate the issue to resolve this for you.
