Web site unexpectedly down

Hi,

We host our web site through BT using wordpress. Something very odd has happened: it was working fine over the weekend and we've made no changes at all. However, on Monday morning/Sunday night it stopped working and we've not been able to access the site or the admin areas since. I know that wordpress relies on php and mySQL and I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with these services? Is there a chance that they are down?

Also, I've had data removed from .php scripts on the public directory such as the config.php file which did have some coding, but is now empty. I'm wondering if there has been a system upgrade? Could our site have been compromised? If so, how would I tell? Is Login information kept for FTP (the only way it could have been changed)?

Any advice would be really appreciated as I've not been able to get anywhere with solving it myself and I'm drawing a blank on the reasons for the failure.

Thanks.

MS

Your website OS login information is the same as the FTP information. It might be a good idea to change that with the "change password" tool in website OS just in case. Other than that you may want to check with support to see we can restore the files if they are actually missing code or restore permissions if that's what happened.

Thanks for your comment. It really does look like an error on the server because the data is all zeroed out and not redirected. Our password was very random and so I would be suprised if it had been hacked.

Even the backup I roll back to from the online restore is problematic (it is missing the data as well) and I knew that it the site was working at that point.

Could the server have wiped our data?

You may have already done this but if not I suggest checking in with support, you can find their number at http://btbusiness.custhelp.com/app/home. Chances are whatever happened effected the local backups as well but a restore request can check more backups than what is available in the file restore application.
