Website doesn't look right

Eve

Hi

I'm troubled.  I looked at my website today and noticed that

a) the text no longer fits in the boxes, even though it was ok when I previewed it

b) in order to see all of the site, you need to scroll across the page, and down the page

I'm bothered by this because scrolling puts off potential customers I'm told, and I don't understand why the text no longer fits.  The text is mostly stuff that was created in the template, so it should be ok.

Why does BT offer templates that are too big for the browsers?

Anyway, how can I fix these two problems?  I worked so hard on the site, getting it just right, and now I feel gutted.

I need to narrow the page, and I need to sort out the text problems.

I'm not sure how I edit a site once it's published.  Would I need to resubmit it again once I've edited it.

Sorry to be such a pain.

thanks

Eve

Hi Eve,

The Url https://www.btdomainsaccount.com/login.aspx is really for domains that are hosted by bt.com/domains and was originally for custromers who didnt have BT accounts but wanted a domain name through BT.

In your case you will need to log in http:/myoffice.bt.com with your btconnect email address and password then click on "View your domains and hosting services" you should then be able to manage your website from here.

I've seen reply to Frosty and will try accessing https://www.btdomainsaccount.com/login.aspx

but even if I find my site there, I still don't know what's causing the problems.

I will keep looking at other posts just in case, but if anyone can recommend a quick fix, I would be very grateful.

just seen post on fonts! I wish I'd done more research before launching into fancy fonts.

In case anyone wants to check what I'm on about, my site is www.esnresources.co.uk

genuinely not advertising here, just that I've been asked for domain name before when I've posted queries.

Hi

More problems! I tried to login to the domainsaccount.com URL and it doesn't recognise any username/password. I have a password and username to get into the web hosting bit where I created my site, and I have a different one for the FTP folders.

I've tried both of these and it doesn't recognise them.  I'll try my final option which is the home broadband login, but I doubt it will recognise that.

Any ideas anyone? BT?

thanks

Ok, so now I'm going mad.  I checked website on my work PC today and it was awful.  So I posted all these queries etc.  Anyway, out of curiosity, I checked it again on my home PC and it looks just fine.  Like I intended it to.  One page width, and text all within the boxes.

What's going on?  I know my firm is about 2 years behind the rest of the world when it comes to IT, but surely I'm missing something here?

Will this mean that half the people who view my site (if they ever find it!) will get a bad view?

Anyway, I'm off to bed.  I'll login again tomorrow during the day to see if there's anything I need to do.  I still couldn't resolve the password thing though.  Tried every combination I could think of and didn't get anywhere with it.

thanks for your help

Eve, For what it's worth, I checked your site and it looks fine to me.  I only have one suggestion and that is some of the names of your pages are kind of long so they get cut off in the tab e.g. it reads "Your business objectives and" in the tab.

Otherwise, the site looks great to me.  And your post helped me find the resources I need to get my website published, so thank you.

I am setting up my own corporate consulting firm so if I need office support, I'll think of you.  I've already bookmarked your site (even though I know you weren't trying to advertise!).

All the best

Gigi

Thanks Gigi.  This has been a bit of a baptism of fire, building a website.  If business takes off, I shall split the different components into separate websites, so I had better get the hang of it.

Ian - thanks for the tip on where to make amendments to my site.  I've spotted a blunder which I need to correct before it finds its way onto Google/Yahoo etc.
