Wireless setup on BT2700HGV - WEP

Hi,

Just joined this forum as it looks really useful.

I have a BT2700HGV router on BT Business, currently have an open Wireless set up. I know the WEP key from the sticker on the side of the router.

Can anyone help me by letting me know how I can set up a more secure wireless system, I would like the wireless user to have to input the WEP key when they connect.

I have options on the settings of:

WEP-OPEN

WEP-SHARED

WEP-PSK

WEP-PSK and WPA2-PSK

PEP2-PSK

This is where i have the problem: I don't have a clue what these options mean ???

Thanks,

Graeme

Hi Graeme, In the drop down box if you select WEP-OPEN then when anyone tries to connect to your wireless signal they will need the default WEP key or you can create your own 10 digit number, if you set it as WPA2-PSK you can create your own password to connect to wireless eg business10.

Setting the router to use WPA2-PSK is more secure than having it set as WEP-OPEN.

  Hope this helps.
