alternatives to BT Local Business

apollogirl

We are about to move premises and need to sort out our telecoms requirements.

After moving 2 years ago and being utterlytraumatised by Lancashire BT business i wondered who else i can speak to at BT to manage our move?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Hi apollogirl,

If you send me a private message with your contact details and details of your current phone lines/broadband, I can organise someone from our sales team to contact you about the move.

Sorry but when you say "Sales Team" please can you confirm this WILL NOT be local business.

I had already emailed BT asking for an alternative and stipulating the fact i would never deal with BT local business again -  the next day BT local buiness called to follow up my request Robot Mad

Hi,

I would be getting someone from our sales team in Glasgow to call you not Local Business

We are having problems with getting a new landline and broadband in for our new Playbarn, Cafe and Farm Shop. We are asking what speed we might get on the broadband and are told that it will be up to 20Meg, however as our house which is next door and just as far from the exchange we get 0.4Meg. Up to 20Meg means nothing and if we get 0.4Meg its not going to be useful for WIFI and not good for our business or much of a showcase for BT.

What kind of performance guarantee can we get?

Whilst I realise that it's an unsatisfactory answer, it will be up to 20Mbps, depending on line length and quality.

Obviously, the closer to the exchange, the better.  There are other factors.  I can get a fairly accurate estimate for you but only if I have an existing phone number to work with.

Another alternative to BTLB is to use a Partner or a Reseller. We have full access to the BT Business portfolio and a slightly different order path and order management process to BTLB. Your BT relationship will not change -  you will continue to be a BT customer, you will be billed by BT and will need to contact BT whenever you have a billing query etc.

Some BT customers prefer to deal with a Partner or Reseller because of previous bad experiences. You will find that many of these companies have a workforce of ex-BT employees - and we're no exception.

I think all the BT sale members have to make sure they do understand the customer needs, and not try to do something for increase their sale figures only!  I had many problem with them already! Good luck!

Also, I have found BT have no communications in between their departments, SHAME! BT is a tel-com company!  You have to repeat and repeat your request to their departments on every call.  I think BT directors have to seriously consider to upgrade their communication system!
