I have had my web site for over 10 years, brought a business pack for my domains with BT because a, thought they would have servers in England (wrong they are based in the U.S) b, had 24 hour technical help (wrong thats now disapeared) For a large telephone company its very wrong to give out a phone number that goes around in circles, keeps offering options 1,2 or 3, gives the occasional advert, redirects to yet another awnser machine, then hangs up !
I need help please! I publish using FrontPage I have not been able to update my web site for 2 weeks. I cannot publish to my main site, although I can publish to a sub folder in the main site I cannot change anything live! When saving either "the server times out" or this new one "an error occured accessing your windows sharepoint services site files."
Any help would be good thank you.
To publish we follow the routine as provided by Microsoft Frontpage 2003 Publish (Not by FTP), We have been using this product since 1997 with little or no problems. We break up our pages so as to limit the amount of data published at any one time, we only publish changed pages, but of course the program has to list all pages on the remote site whilst it is doing this the server times out.
I have also opened the site live and changed a page today but on saving the page I got the message the server timed out. Copying highlighted pages to the remote site also generates the same message. This has totally prevented us updating our main site for the last two weeks
although we can publish to sub webs within the main site. I have contacted the bt help but have had no response up to now.
Hard to say what could be causing this as Frontpage isn't something we have complete control over. What I would suggest, and what I usually do in this case, is to uninstall and reinstall the frontpage extensions from your control panel with us and try to connect again. If that doesn't work, and you can still connect to the extensions, it is more often a problem with the program or, less likely, the connection strength or speed.
Another thing to try, and this only works with more recent version of Publisher, is to try to publish via FTP directly into the public folder.
