cant get rid of my line for years

Can anyone on here help ? If not, can anyone advise who I can contact. Thanks.

In 2006 I had a small shop and rented another, I appointed a manager and asked him to contact BT to arrange telephone lines, broadband etc., I also asked him to arrange bills to go to the main shop, all of which he did. 3 years later he left, and I found that although charged and invoiced to the company, his name and password had been put in as the contact, and once he left, I had no way of accessing internet bills.

I complained to BT, and was told that I was wrong for letting a manager book the telephone rather than me. (Does "Mr Tesco" have to solely arrange all their lines I wonder ? and does he have the same problems when the managers leave Tescos ?).

Anyway the shop failed and was closed down two years ago. It took me almost a year, to get out of the lease, and

then a new shop was opened by new people. Yet I still cannot get out of my lines !! they are still there although luckily the new tenant probably does not know.  No calls have been made for 2 years, yet I am still getting the bills, and cannot stop it. I have no contact with the manager who set them up, and no way of knowing his passwords.

Last year I gave up my business completely and retired, and now get just £145 weekly pension for me and my wife plus any small benefits I am allowed.

BT still send me bills for the lines that I cannot get rid of. They will not deal with me as although they are in my old business name the contact details are not in my name. What can I do, I am stumped.

Sorry you are in this situation. It is possible that the Moderators here will be able to help tomorrow (Friday) and point you in the right direction.

Where you say "BT still send me bills for the lines that I cannot get rid of. They will not deal with me as although they are in my old business name the contact details are not in my name." You say you are getting the bills but you don't say that you are paying them. If the contact details for the bills aren't valid then just send them back to BT as "moved away - no longer at this address"

In the meantime have a read of "BT's Code of Practice" and also their Complaints process - both are PDF doc's, easily found by google and can give additional information.

If you don't get the support you think you need from BT then say so again here on Sunday evening and I'll talk with you outside the forum as to whom you should contact.

Sorry to hear that kinarvey. Is there any way that you can contact the said Manager so he can call BT, and once your account is verified, then it can be transferred to your name.

Thanks for all that, I may well have to reply again on Sunday evening.

Kuerten, Thanks for the reply, but I regret that my ex-manager has not been seen or heard of since leaving.
