outgoing server limit of email size to 35mb

Hello

I am getting a message saying the outgoing server smtp.outlook.com will not accept an email with attachements > 35mb. This is crazy as its less than one photo.

Does anyone know how to change the settings of the server.

BT have been less than helpful telling me its up to me to contact Microsoft!

They seem to have abrogated responsibility for my mail service...

thanks

Have you tried to use WinZip or a similar program to compress the file - password protect it and then send the password in a separate mail to the recipient

this should allow you to send

Hi Goodwood,

>35Mb is a large file size, even for a photo, I'd imagine you are using a high resolution, try lowering this and making the image smaller possibly, as mburke has pointed out if this is still rather large compress the file in a zipped folder.

BT advise that the file size for sending should not be larger than 25Mb, however in practice as attachments swell upto 40% during their journey anything above 17.7Mb, may not send.

Further to this, if you use Outlook 2010, Microsoft (not BT) will not allow you to send above 20Mb through any mail server.

Thanks,

Steve
