I have created a web site using easy site wizard pro, and this is reasonably straightforward. I have also uploaded photos from Adobe Lightroom to my site by ftp transfer. However I cannot get a link to the photos without receiving a 404 Not Found error. An example address from the site is
(ftp://photostolike.com@photostolike.com/public/PhotoAlbums/Landscape/index.html) - in brackets because the forum refuses to accept this address
and the link address:
ftp.photostolike.com/public/PhotoAlbums/Landscape/index.html
Where am I going wrong. Many hours and tears have been spent trying to get this website up and running.
The Easy Site Wizard Pro guide is near useless.
I'm not sure I understand your directory reference structure but I don't like your ....index.html reference at the end of the location string so back to basics.
I don't know easy site
Let's say you've got an image called picture1. jpg
As you are FTP'ing then FTP the picture1.jpg to your web server in root = lets say to directory images so you end up with file reference images/picture1.jpg
and you should be able to optimize the photo for web hosting
In easy site you should now be able to reference images/picture1.jpg and drag/drop or whatever easy site uses (insert image function?) to place the picture in your web page.
It may be that you don't need to FTP if easy site has the insert image capability and transfer/import the picture file to the web environment?
If you want to let me or others here know the web site for a look at it then feel free
I have done just this, and in fact used a variety of directories, but no joy.
According to BT I am supposed to have created photo albums, which I have done, and then I am supposed to populate these with photos from my ftp site by clicking on refresh photos. This seems to have no effect whatsoever and the albums remain empty of photos - a puzzle!
Is this server accessible from the internet? It is not pingable from outside.
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: photostolike.com
Address: 209.235.144.9
It could be that the ICMP is disabled but better check this also.
DNS should be pingable so that we can monitor and quick troubleshhoot.
__________
Well it looks ok for newbies first attempt at web design,
there is after all only so much you do with the Easy Site Wizard.
Tip#
what you see on screen is often not what others see
design your page layout to fit a more the common 1024 pixel wide screen
