Some help would be appreciated as I have a problem and don't seem to be able to get anyone's attention.
At the wiring level, my broadband seems to work fine, and has all been thoroughly checked out. I have several computers using different operating systems and different browsers. The router has been swapped, and there isn't any house cabling etc to worry about. BT say there haven't been any issues in my area for weeks, the router is up all the time etc.
Howver, the WWW does not respond properly. Some times all is fine, perhaps a bit slow to respond compared to e.g. where I used to work, but quite acceptable with a typical ping of 45mS or so. Other times, I sit there with messages like 'waiting for www.google.com'. The wait can be very long. When this happens I can't get to any web site (bt.com, shell.com etc). When it is a problem on one computer, it is on all of them. Oddly, email and pings etc seem to work even when the www doesn't. This suggests to me e.g. DNS congestion or something like that.
BT support tell me that all is fine and they have nothing to go on. I know differently. The WWW level does not seem to interest them, or perhaps they are only trained to worry about routers etc.
I have also just learned that several other people in the same village are also having similar problems. The upshot is that we cannot just go to the computer and find a www page, because a large proportion of the time it isn't going to appear.
How do I find someone in BT that can diagnose and fix these things, because I am paying a premium price for what is definately not a premium service?
