Number Porting while in contract

Hi wondering if anyone can give me the right information. We are currently in a contract with BT business for our landline and broadband. However we are moving away to voip services and we wanted to port our business number. This being said we also would like to keep the BT broadband as its needed for voip to work. So my question is that is it possible to port my number away and request BT to renumber the line so I can continue with the broadband service or does sending a porting request automatically place a cancellation request?
I have tried speaking to BT chat and could bot get an yes or no answer.
Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Hope you are well.
Very sorry about the delayed reply. You should be able to renumber the line and then port your existing number to a Cloud platform, however I would speak to our Customer Options Team before you would initiate any porting. You can get through to them by calling 0800 800 152, they are not available on chat unfortunately, but they would be the best people to advise you when it comes to making any changes to your existing services or packages.
They are open Monday-Friday 8am-6pm. 🙂
