3rd party vdsl modem/router on Infinity Business service

TenP

I always replace the BT supplied routers for my adsl and sdsl customers with an equivalent Cisco device but I'm not sure if I will be able to do this with the Infinity business service.

Ideally I would like to use the Cisco 887v in place of both the BT supplied 2Wire hub and vdsl modem. Would this be possible with the service as it stands?

I have seen this model of router used with a Dutch ISP, but not on BT.

Thanks.

You should be able to connect your Cisco to the VDSL modem and configure your Cisco to connect via PPPoE.

Hi Tenp,

I have double checked this for you.

The VDSL modem is supplied and installed by BT Openreach which has to stay on the connection for the Infinity product to work.

BT Retail (your ISP) supplies the BT 2Wire which works with the VDSL modem , so you wouldn't be able to replace the router and the VDSL modem.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info, we have an old pix firewall on the site too, I will try setting the PPPoE connection on it instead.

Hi TenP

Did you have any luck with this? Look to set up BT Infinity and Cisco PIX firewall myself.

Thanks
