550 Relaying denied

When I try to send emails via Outlook or any other emailer I get the following message, unless I am sending an email to myself in which case it works:

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
'tony@aptprojects.com' on 30/07/2013 15:49
550 Relaying denied

This issue has been mentioned in other posts along with a link on how to set up authentication but all the links I click just go to a page saying the information no longer exists. Can anyone please give me the instructions on how to resolve this issue.

Hi there AndyGroom

If your mail is hosted with BT use these settings which will work

Outgoing

Server - smtp.outlook.com

port – 587

connection type – tls

make sure the outgoing server requires authentication and authenticate with the same details as the incoming server

if you are using a non BT email use the following settings

Server - smtp.btconnect.com

port – 25

connection type – none

try with authentication off if this does not work use your the username and password set up to allow mail relay

if this does not work or you dont know the username and password then please contact us

I hope this helps
