I have recently re-installed my FTP client software - Terrapin FTP, it works fine with my website on Demon but will not connect to my BT webspace so I can download the files there to rewrite them.
Can someone tell me what I need to enter as the server address, I have tried ftphost.btconnect.com and with my user name and password it connects but lists no files on the server, I have also tried home2.btconnect.com to the same effect.
Any suggestions?
James
Solved! Go to Solution.
The address you mention indicates that this is free webspace.
The FTP details for this would be:
Host Name: ftp.btconnecthosting.com
Username: talkingcars Password: The Password you used to activate the free webspace.
If you can't remember the password, it can be re-set by logging into the "My Services" section of our website, using your Primary @btconnect.com e-mail address:
Once logged in, look for the Web Hosting section, click the link: Manage FTP password and you can re-set the password.
NB: When uploading website files, upload to the /public directory

If you are on the shared webhosting (if you have your own domain name I mean) you can use your domain as the server address. So yourcompanyname.com for example. That's a good fallback in general actually, try whatever URL you use to see your site online as the host/server adress in FTP.
My site is at http://home.btconnect.com/talkingcars/ so I've tried that, also without the http://, doesn't work.
I tried ftphost.btconnect.com/talkingcars which doesn't work.
ftphostbtconnect.com does connect to the server but doesn't list any files.

Any other ideas that might work?
