Another Multiple Static IP Thread

Hello everyone, I just changed over to BT Business Infinity with 5 static IP Addresses yesterday and think I have worked my way around one or two issues, however I still have a bit of a problem with the BT Businees Hub 3 which I hope someone can help with.

I have a PC which sits on the network which I use to host a webpage, this has now been given one of my static ip's (217.xxx.xxx.xxx) and I have opened the relevant ports, using port forwarding to allow the webpage to be seen from the internet.

The problem that I have, is that I now cannot get access to this machine from inside my network (192.168.1.xxx). I regularly need to remote desktop into this machine from various PC;s inside the network, but I cannot see how to do this without port forwarding the relevant ports for VNC or similar, however I don't want these ports available from the internet.

Hope this makes sense....

Hi,

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't just be able to access the machine from the LAN using its public IP address. If you are using a BT Hub it basically has two LANs one on a private IP range (192.168.1.x) and one on a public range (217.x.x.x). Both ranges are seen as local to the router.
