BT Business Infinity equipment versus BT Home Infinity equipment?

I want to upgrade my business BT ADSL connection to Infinity as it is now available to me.

I note the hub provided for the business solution is LAN 10/100 and wireless up to 802.11g whereas if I go for the consumer residential solution, the hub is LAN 10/100/1000 and wireless goes up to 802.11n.  My account manager tells me that I am not allowed to ask for the consumer residential solution as a business customer!

The account manager states: "Apparently it is a different configuration" but I cannot get further details.

If I go to the BT Shop at: http://www.shop.bt.com/articles/landingpages/landing-pages/discounted-wireless-adapter-4610.html? , I read the following which makes me think that I just buy a BT Home Hub 2.0 or 3 and replace the one that BT send out and all will work:

"And now for the science bit...
What is Wireless-N technology?
The BT Home Hub 2.0 (including the BT Infinity version) and BT Home Hub 3 use "802.11n", or "11n" wireless technology. This wireless 'N' technology is the latest available and gives you the best wireless range and connection. The previous versions of the BT Home Hub use "802.11g" or "11g" wireless technology.
'N' technology makes better use of wireless signals by reflecting them more around a room, improving coverage within your home and giving you a better connection. However, the precise range you'll get will vary, depending on the layout of your home.
You can use 'N' technology with your Hub if your computer is compatible. If you've got a new computer that already works with 'N' technology, you'll see the 'N' image on its box or in its user guide.".

Has anyone experimented with that?

I also see at http://business.bt.com/broadband-and-internet/internet-access/fibre-broadband/ :

"BT Infinity for business requirement
To get BT Infinity for business you'll need:
a BT line or equivalent
a fibre compatible router with Ethernet WAN interface".

Can anyone explain why there is a lower spec. device for the business solution as everyone I've spoken to at BT simply says it's strange but that's the way it is?

Does anyone know if there are any plans to upgrade the business solution equipment so I should maybe hang on a little longer?

There is a lot of marketing b******t in that waffle about wireless 802.11n.   You will get faster speeds on the wirelss connection using 802.11n but that will soon drop off with the distance from the WAP,   802.11g has 54 Mbps capability and the Infinity link will only provide 39Mbps so unless you are doing a large amount of local  file transfer and access, is anything above 50Mbit needed?

Business has UK based first line support that know the product rather than people reading from scripts.  It is 24 hour and normally very effective.   In case of a failure your business service will get priority.

As for the router, you could buy a Residential/Consumer Hub and use that instead of the Business hub (but I would advise against it) or you could buy whatever you want (provided it has a WAN input).    I use the Business hub and connect that straight to a Gigabit switch and several Wirelss access points.

If your level of network literacy is not too great, I would suggest staying with the BT Business hub as teh support team are well versed in te operation of te hub and can provide all the support you need.
