My router type 3 is working fine and picking up all the local signals in my immediate area. However, one puzzles me. It is showing as ''BTWIFI-X'' it is a secure connection with standard 802 etc etc, but never heard of BTWIFI-X. Anybody help me ?

Hi norfolkpunch1

that wireless signal is a BT WiFi hotspot signal formally BT Openzone/Fon it is nothing to be worried about, it is for BT customers to use when out and about when roaming, it is secure and when connected they do not have access your network.

I did not realise that you had replied to norfolkpunch before I added my reply. I am still trying to find my way around the forum.

I use BT FON and find it handy when I am away when I can get it to work.

There also used to be btopenzone which sometimes worked.

Presumably BTWifi-x is similar?

Can I use it?

Why do BT give all these different names?
