Broadband Security

Hey! My original message got deleted! Is there something wrong with the forums? Anyway original message below:

Hi,

I am a BT Business customer and am very concerned about what I have learned about BT Webwise and Phorm. I run several internet based applications from two locations in the UK, one at head office (using BT Business Broadband) and another in kendal which is a dedicated server on a dedicated internet connection. We have many home workers which also use BT broadband, a mixture of retail and business as we thought it prudent at the time for home workers to be on the same ISP as head office, for natwork latency reasons and accounting.

I have learned that BT Webwise has a trial running currently whereby they are capturing every packet of data over their internet connection????!!!!!!

This is a massive security risk to my business as the applications the home users use are connected to over their BT retail connection for some of them and there are personal details of clients etc being transmitted back and forth to both locations (head office and Kendal)

From what I can gather BT are using deep packet inspection equipment to copy all the data that runs across their retail arm of the ISP, where they are trialling 10000 users as I speak, but apparently if their trial is successful they will be rolling out the BT Webwise system to their entire BT network!

Can anyone, especialy anyBT staff please confirm this? And if that is the case what do I so about securing my network from BT Webwise?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi vosi,

Thank you for your post.  While I understand your concerns on BT Webwise I must direct you to the thread on the BT Webwise Page as this service is a residentail service and is not run in conjuction with BT Business.  You will find answers on the official BT Webwise web page where you can view the FAQ`s on this service.  Please see Below for the link,
