Broadband disconnects when phone rings

appware

Our exchange (Wetherby) was upgraded to ADSL2+ last week and all went well until the phone rang and the connection was interrupted until the call had ended. Nothing about our setup has changed, we are using a recently purchased Netgear 2200 N300 router which has ADSL2+ support and the phone and router are plugged into a micro filter. Any ideas what the issue might be?

Hi,

Right do the following:

1. Plug a phone straight into the master socket and check for any noise.

2. Try a different phone (preferably an older analogue one) to see if it still drops.

3. Plug everything into the test socket (if you have one available).

4. Replace the microfilter.

5. Try another router.

6. Call Telephone Faults on 0800 800 154 and check if there are any problems on the line.

7. Call the Broadband Helpdesk on 0845 600 7020 and check if there are any broadband issues.

Do these in order.  Don't just jump to 7 and expect them to figure it out for you, as they would ask you to try all of the above.

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply, got some help from a live chat representative who told us to change the filter, which we never expected to work, but it did!
