Hi,
We have a BT Hub in work.
I am developing an Access database for staff to enter daily jobs into.
However I do not have a network or a server and need each employee to enter into the 1 database.
Is it possible to use the hub to remote into a central store and connect to the database? How would I go about user permissions on the database? As ideally I don't want certain staff to see certain things.
Any other ways around this that you know of?
Thanks
Hi YNWA,
You can probably connect to a database from a machine, as long as you configure the software firewall and the hardware firewall in the router to have the ports needed open in the database.
You'd need a static ip or dynamic dns to access this remotely too.
To restrict certain files, you would need to edit the permissions of the files on the machine or if possible in the database software? The permission variation varies depending on the machine / software.
Thanks,
Steve
